News! Wallop10, 28 May 2010 - 31 May 2010 28 May 2010 - 31 May 2010 - Kiting event at Middle Wallop Airfield, England (To confirm - I'm a messenger, not organiser, though to celebrate: TShirt Discount Code: WALLOP : http://shop.kitecrowd.com) Middle Wallop kite event is being planned for Friday 28 - Mon 31st May 2010. This will be a wallop reminiscent of the early years rather than the full on festival of recent times. Think it more of a large gathering of kiters sharing a huge open grass space for a weekend of boarding & buggying. More detailed information will be available on a website but in the meantime;
| Whitemans Green restrictions 1. Whitemans green will now have a self imposed restriction zone around the cricket green, we must all stay out of the wicket area as the council have started to get complaints and can enforce a by-law to keep us off the whole field! 2. During the summer month's athletics is held on a Tuesday night so it would be best not to fly 3. When any other sports games are on there should be no over-flying as this can be very intimidating and will also lead to complaints 4. Insurance (BPKA, sports cover direct or similar) 5. safety equipment. (helmet, pads and such like) 6. If anyone needs to contact the council please contact Breezer as he will help! This is just a few self imposed restrictions that we must do to show the council that we are a safe and responsible group of kiters. As most of you all know the council were going to enforce a ban at Whitemans Green. After long talks with the council and friends help we did get the ban lifted. On top of this I have been able to arrange with the council mini meets where big groups of local flyers can meet up at Whitemans Green on certain dates to fly Buggy and Board to there harts content with no limit on Numbers of Flyers Buggys Kite Wings or Boards on the Mini meet events. Dates are to be arranged but I am looking at Bank Holidays and the last weekend in June. Also I have to check it dose not mix with any other kite events such as the SEKA meets and Middle Wallop. The council have asked me to put in theses extra RULES for us. No more than 5 kite boarders or buggys at the site flying at the same time. No kite boarding or Buggying when other booked sports are going on. Every one Boarding or buggying needs insurance. No Kite boarding or buggying if the site is muddy. No Flying, boarding, buggying over the wicket area. Buggyer's and Boarders must always give way to the public. If all these's rules are kept we will have Whitemans Green for a long time all the park rangers have been told not to stop us unless they see the above. West Wittering restrictions Boarding and Buggying currently Banned On weekends and Bank Holidays. WWBC Members Only for anything that involves moving on a buggy, board or similar. This means non-members can static fly, but nothing else. Red bibs must be worn at all times. Each member should have got their bib when they joined and this must be worn. As the rules say, no bib, no play. 3 hours each side of Low Tide as stated in the official tide times for Chichester Harbour Entrance. Tide Times. Any other time, static flying only. In season only which is usually from 15th September to 1st May inclusive. No boarding or buggying etc in the Summer whatsoever. Setup area is past the toilet block on the left, after the shop area. If you're a member and have been before, you should know where this is. Only set kites up in the 2 areas between these groynes, nowhere else. Kite beyond the groynes always, no buggying or boarding within the groynes except when leaving or returning to the setup area. No overflying the public which is obviously common sense, you do this, you'll get shot. K or BPKA numbers to be displayed on buggies or blokarts. Not necessary for boards. Any insurance number that you have should be displayed for identification purposes. Non-members should be approached meaning if you see someone boarding or buggying who doesn't have a red bib on, go over and tell them what the deal is. Web cam link http://www.2xs.co.uk/weather/ Camber No flying on the 'Cafe' end of the beach - the flying zone boundary is signposted Camber is currently under risk - please use common sense when flying to minimise disturbance to other beach users Please set up between the groins to avoid congestion on the main runs along the beach. |
