Welcome to the Review

Well what a year it’s been with lows and highs!

The year started on a Low with the passing of Keishin who died in a car crash on 12th February he was a great kiter and great friend to every one who new him. On the 16 February I was asked to go to a Horsham Park to do a flying for friends and family which new him but never seen the sport Keishin loved. The day was nice and sunny and went off with out a hitch with the Sabre 12 meter handling the low winds with out problem.

In March the Birth of West Sussex kiters under came about under stormy times. But the website and members quickly got to work and now gets about 100 hits a day. We also saw Whiteman’s Green being opened up for kite flying with the local council backing after a shock ban. Later on in March we met with the council and me with the backing of others like Chris and Ted got the ban lifted. The Mini meets started in April and now having the hole site to our self’s we now have free run with the boards and buggys in all you could say its are kite park for the mini meet days and now we have no problems. In May good times started with Blurr kites coming out along with the MBS PRO 90. Another mini meet also was on in May at Whiteman’s Green and we were filmed buy the French National TV boarding and Buggying at the meet with about 10 kites in all showing up I would like to thanks Karl for arranging it all.

Also buy may The West Sussex Kiters site started picking up to with lots of hits it was felt to update the site and soon we got good support from Kite Free style, ORB, 360 Air Born Kite's also the feed back from local kiters was good or though we never did get all the support or links from other club which we wanted also in May the kite surfing was buzzing as loads of good wind was hitting the south Coast with lots of us hitting the beaches at Lancing.

In June we had are first ever meet in East Sussex at Camber Sands it was a long weekend there. It went off really well with BBQs and Drinks every night and kite flying in the day. Sadly there was not much wind on the trip but we still got out and buggy and boarding every day and apart from the odd stunt kiter getting in the way we all had an epic time.

Extreme Eastbourne In July was Very gusty and full on wind and after getting some truly lofty jumps from the Rage 6.0 a lot of us down sized to 2 or 3 meter kites but a lot of us felt it was sad to see most of the pro riders dashing off that day to a better location.

The Sunday at the Extreme Eastbourne Event was a lot more better and I soon got out on the Sabre 12 meter but it still felt a bit gusty so after a wile I got the Blurr 5.0 out which handled the gusts a lot more easier but Sadly I did not take into account how the other riders would handle the gusts lol which ended in a good wipe out. Still I met up with some top people and was great to speak to them agine and I have to say I was a bit worried I wasn’t going to get my Blurr back from Chris after I let him Have ago lol.

In August thing settled down and plans were coming together for another Camber Trip in October. There were a lot of new kiters in West Sussex and we often hit the field after work to fly till sunsets.

September was a weird mouth with out much wind but luckily we still got out a lot of time doing jumps and stuff.

In October me and the West Sussex Gang hit Camber on another long weekend and the first day was mad with storm force winds and driving rain the day look like a wash out but like a switch every thing tuned and the sun came out wind dropped and the tide went out showing us what we could only say was a truly epic beach with loads of hard packed sand.  The Wind Dropped so much I had to pull out the biggest kite I had with me which was the 7.0 Blurr and got some okayish runs getting up to about 22mph on the GPS soon we called it a day and hit the camp site and enjoyed during and a lovely BBQ with some truly epic Ribs. The Next day we hit the Beach early as the wind was just epic at around 25mph to 30mph Chris was out on his kite wing I was out with the Sky Tiger 2.6 and Kyle was out on my Bullet 3.5. We had no idea but this turned out to be a best sesh this year and I would say the best every sesh at Camber to date with me clocking over 70 Miles in the Buggy. Sadly Kyle did destroyed my Bullet 3.5 but we sorted it out and the perks of being a shop rider meant I got a 3.5 Rage with weeks after the Camber Trip.

The Last Day at Camber was a bit damp with Rain hitting us on and off and flying the Blurr 5.0 was a bit of a handful as the cells kept filling with water.

After the Camber Trip the wind didn’t much show up but luckily there was wind for me and one of the others to go out to Devils Dyke with a bus load of mangers from Hillton Hotels on a team building exorcise and quickly got them out flying 20 Symphony’s 1.3 meter kites. The day was a huge success with the manger of Hillton Hotel Brighton saying if we ever stay let them no it was us and they will sort out a special service for us.

Shortly after Rain hit us for long spells and soon the field became very muddy and hard to board on so we kept to static flying.

In December much of the same just static flying but with the good news of getting new giant field things are looking up for 2009 Also there are to more Camber trips on the Plans one for April and the other in October but there will be load of one day road trips.
